  • Neuruppin

    Neuruppin

    Neuruppin, Germany

The lighting master plan is intended to emphasize the importance of Neuruppin as a cultural centre with an attractive historic townscape and to enhance the quality of life in the evening and night hours in the long term. To this end, practical and functional aspects of outdoor lighting in the town centre will be investigated and new lighting criteria’s will be created. On this basis, a lighting concept that harmonises the aesthetic aspects of urban lighting with the needs of public safety, functionality and recreation, will be developed. The lighting master plan is primarily a strategic document with a conceptual character. It is to be understood as a framework plan for subsequent design decisions on public lighting. Design criteria and guidelines provide concrete indications for future lighting design in the city.

  • Schiffbauergasse, Potsdam

    Schiffbauergasse, Potsdam

    Schiffbauergasse, Potsdam

The former shipyard area Schiffbauergasse was extensively renovated by 2008. After the commissioning and establishment of the new cultural location, the deficits in the external image of the quarter were to be worked on. Thus, a lighting master plan was missing, which would bring together different approaches to lighting the entire ensemble. The aim of the lighting master plan is to examine the necessary technical and design lighting conditions and to offer lighting solutions that improve the attractiveness of the area in the evening and at night. The basic ideas for this lighting master plan are to reposition the urban district as a cultural and event location and to make its individual and lively character as a venue and open stage accessible also from adjacent street spaces.  The concepts proposed in this study were developed together with the cultural workers of the city of Potsdam and the local tenants. The results should form the basis for further planning and implementation of the lighting in the coming years.

  • Neuruppin WK 1-3

    Neuruppin WK 1-3

    Neuruppin, Germany

One of the essential ideas for the lighting master plan WK I – III is the attempt to highlight the original character of this residential quarter and to support its individual and lively character for the evening or night hours. In addition, the use of energy-efficient LED lighting technology with a high degree of precision should drastically reduce the energy costs for lighting. In this context, it is proposed to upgrade the existing luminaires and the RSL (Rostock Street Luminaire), which is typical for the former GDR, both technically and in terms of design. As a contemporary design element, the luminaire should be reinterpreted and contribute to a positive identification of the residents with their neighborhood.

  • Lighting Masterplan Brandenburg an der Havel

Lighting Masterplan Brandenburg an der Havel

    Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany

The lighting concept for the city of Brandenburg an der Havel serves as the basis for future lighting plans. The master plan was designed so that individual measures can be implemented independent of each other. Within the created concept the following phases for renewal of the lighting were developed:

    1. Inventory of the city lighting.
    2. Concept development as target state for the entire urban lighting.
    3. Strategy development, here principles are formulated which enables the setting of priorities.
    4. Action planning, individual measures are defined and form a solid reference point for cost development.
    5. Cross-sectional task data preparation and provision with GIS connection table-based application of the data for further development of the lighting system, which is planned and documented section by section.

  • Lusail Marina District

    Lusail Marina District

    Doha, Qatar

    Doha, Qatar
Lusail is a new urban development plan in the northern region of Doha. It consists of several different districts. The marina district is a high-density development area consisting of residential, commercial and office, hotel, shopping and mixed-use zones along the waterfront, connected by open spaces; it is predominantly a high-rise area with open parks and private gardens leading to the waterfront.
The lighting master plan aims to define the standards best suited to green public areas. These recommended lighting levels also set out a proposed differentiation of atmospheric lighting qualities, with clear distinctions for different functions and uses. The lighting master plan should ensure that future users find it easy to find their way around and perceive the rooms at night; the lighting planned should also convey a sense of security and wellbeing. To this end, a uniform strategy for open spaces within the urban structure of Lusail’s Marina District is proposed. The objectives are to create a high quality of stay in the public spaces and to make them safe at night.
